3 star hotel Lo Spedalicchio

«Lo Spedalicchio» was meaning in the Middle Ages language small welcoming place. It was at that time the “mastio” of a fortified defensive wall, wanted by the city-State of the Municipality of Perugia at the borders of its own territory in order to control the road leading to Assisi.

During the XVIth century, with the lost of importance of the military settlement, the city expands itself; around the antique tower dating back to 1300, by raising the strong defensive walls, a noble residence is built. Recently renovated, it is nowadays hosting the hotel with a privagte parking and a garden surrounded by high cypress trees.

The hotel offers a convention room, located apart and in a quiet place, where it is possible to organise work meetings, training courses, meetings, exhibitions and, according to the various modalities of organisation, this room can welcome up to one hundred persons. On the walls of the room are hanging the historic evidences which, starting in 1444, indicate the expences carried out by the city of Perugia by the fortification of the site.

The hotel is welcoming its guests in 25 rooms, most of them located in large spaces at the noble floor, with high vaulted ceilings, also with mezzanine, and floors in brick; in the two lateral towers the roof is sustained by wood reinforcements.

The rooms, divided between superior and standard, are equipped with wooden furniture, according to the tradition of the territory, typical fabrics of Umbria and ceramics of Deruta. They have all the modern comforts with air conditioning in summer and winter, bathroom with shower, telephone with satellite, Internet connection on request upon booking.

Striclty linked to the reception of the hotel, we have an Holiday House with three apartments, built during the renovation of the building which was born with the raising of the old defensive walls. Each apartment is equipped with all the comforts, with air conditioning in summer and winter, bathroom with shower, telephone and TV with satellite connection, private parking; inside you will find a cooking corner, a living room and a large bedroom, which can eventually welcome additional beds. The furniture, made of antique furniture and Umbrian fabrics, creates a traditional atmosphere, welcoming and comfortable.

In a large vaulted room, where during the winter the fire is burning, it is possible to taste the regional specialties and everything the creativity of the chef can propose.

The recipes of the best Umbrian gastronomic tradition tradition are alive in the pasta spread out with patience, in the biscuits, in the salted tarts, in the homemade marmelades, in the desserts and in the cakes.

The fresh products of the garden and of the wood, with what the territory can offer of best quality along the seasons, allow us to propose dishes dressed with the refined Umbrian oil, cobined with local wines.
