Elba Island Hotels
The Elba island, along with the islands of Capraia, Giglio, Gorgona, Montecristo and Pianosa, forms the the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago. The Elba Island is in the Tyrrhenian Sea, about six miles from the coast of Piombino, in the province of Livorno, Tuscany.
The island is a tourist destination and seaside resort: all year throngs of tourists visit the island to admire the beauty of the beaches and enjoy a beautiful sea. The Elba Island can be reached via ferry from Piombino to Portoferraio harbor to the north, the island's capital, or Porto Azzurro and Rio Marina on the east coast. The island is inhabited by just over 30 000 inhabitants, which become hundreds of thousands at peak times in high season.
Advanced reservations at hotels on the Elba Island and other tourist facilities, such as campsites, apartments for rent, cottages, is absolutely recommended for the period between June and late August. At other times of the year, many facilities remain open and it is easier to find accommodation.
On the island there are several towns, Portoferraio, Campo nell'Elba, Capoliveri, Marciana, Marciana Marina, Porto Azzurro, Rio Marina and Rio Elba, all surrounded by beautiful greenery at the foot of the hills and Mount Capanne, over a thousand meters high, which top can be reached through a cablecar running from Marciana.

Further info about Elba
The Elba Island offers tourists a wide variety of entertainment. Starting from a beautiful landscape opening from every corner on the coast, extremely rugged and full of beaches and cliffs, rocks above the water, hidden coves often accessible only by boat.
Of course, all water sports can be practiced here, especially in summer, in many marinas and sailing, windsurfing and kiting schools. The Elba Island is a popular destination for divers, for its splendid marine life and also offers diving opportunities for beginners. Much frequented by divers, especially in summer, are the areas near the wreck of Pomonte, nearby the Ogliera rock, the area of Formiche della Zanca near Capo Sant'Andrea, Capo Stella and Scoglietto di Portoferraio.
Portoferraio, the capital, is a lovely town surrounded by walls, dominated in the harbor area by the Martello tower, the Forte Falcone and Forte Stella. In the area of Portoferraio, there are several beaches, among the most famous of the island, such as Capo Bianco and Padulella. The whole coast north to Marciana Marina is very picturesque, characterized by coves and pine forests that reach the sea.
