The luxury hotel, founded in 1836, many times enlarged and restructured in the 19th century: the halls of the hotel were richly decorated with stuccos and frescos following the Art Nouveau style and the front of the hotel was festooned with decoration in Venetian style. After a period in which the hotel was closed for nearly 30 years a restoration and conservation project was made to restore the hotel to its former splendour.
From the ground floor halls you can still today breath in the central European atmosphere and the character of the Luxury Hotels of the Alps in the last century. The traces of Belle Epoque characterises the disposition of the communal halls and their decoration with floral motifs, but one can also admire traces of the older neoclassic decoration on the ceilings in the Sala degli Affreschi. Some of these halls have been equipped for Conventions. Two modern beauty and massage centres make part of the SPA where is possible to choose between 60 different massages and aesthetical treatments. The Spa & Wellness centre Bagni Nuovi di Bormio is subdivided into 5 sections which unite the larger areas using the Grand Hotel Bagni Nuovi's Liberty wings' vaulted arched basement to the thermal complexes, that are situated in the surrounding gardens.

None of the 74 bedrooms are the same. Everyone has a distinct character that renders it unique and diverse. The view depends on the position of the room: the sweet concave valley of Bormio, the view of Validentro, the high rocky precipice of the Stelvio gorge with the Western Dolomite mountains. Terraces and balconies face directly onto the gardens and National Park. The furnishings and the charm of the bygone era mix with the comfort of up to date technology. And last of all the possibility of a hydro massage in the comfort of your own room.
The hotel has different room types:
gold: panoramic view to the valley or the mountains, bathroom with shower.
Platinum: panoramic view to the valley or the mountains; most with a terrace, bathrooms in white marble from Carrara equipped with hydro-massage baths with thermal water, some with Chromo therapy System.
Junior Suite e Suite: panoramic view to the valley or the mountains; almost all with a terrace; As it's a historical hotel, some of the bedrooms are open-spaced, still witnessing the trends of the past. Bathrooms in white marble from Carrara equipped with hydro-massage baths with thermal water, some with Chromo therapy System.
Royal Suite: designed for the visit of Vittorio Emanuele III King of Italy in 1917, as used at that time, this suite is one large room subdivided by Corinthian columns. Two bathrooms, one modern, the second has conserved the original pink marble bath from Candoglia, completing the suite.
