The Virgilio Grand Hotel has recently been built in Sperlonga, an enchanting tourist resort on the coast of Latium, where arrived as first tourist Enea from Troy. The Virgilio Grand Hotel consists of a three-building complex furnished in a perfect modern style and it's situated in the centre of Sperlonga 200 meters far from the sea.

The Virgilio Grand Hotel gusts' can enjoy: a wide lobby, 2 American Bar , relax corner, internet point, plasma screened television, welcome desk, a terrace near the open-air swimming pool.

1 covered Garage for 60 cars and an open-air parking form about 15 cars. A private-beach area 200 meters far from the Hotel.

One air-conditioned conference-room, structured as an auditorium equipped according customers' wishes, capacity from 15 to 100 people and equipped with all technical services. - A congress & meeting area centre with 3 air-conditioned rooms ( maximum capacity: 250/300 people).

NEXT OPENING: - A FITNES CENTER, a Beauty farm for the "Manager remise en forme" (running on the beach, sauna or Hammam, Scottish shower, Hydro massage and if requested particular beauty massages).

THE HOTEL WILL BE CLOSED FROM 7TH JANUARY TO 7TH MARCH 2008 FOR MANTAINANCE WORK.

Area information

Sperlonga is a renowned tourist resort that overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea in one of the most scenic stretches of the Riviera of Ulysses, namely the territory that extends from the Circeo promontory to Gaeta. The historical centre, which opens onto the sea and splits this wonderful coastal region into the eastwards and the westwards sections, appears as a fascinating tangle of houses crossed by long stairways, flights of small arches in between narrow alleys, and enchanting panoramic views of the sky and the sea. The other section of the beach - eastward-bound and full of atmosphere - hosts the archaeological site connected with the remains of the Roman site known as Emperor Tiberius' Villa and the nearby homonym grotto (whose finds are displayed in the adjacent National Archaeological Museum). This section also includes the Blue Oasis of Tiberius' Villa. Another point of attraction of Sperlonga is represented by the two lakes, the Lungo Lake and the St. Puoto Lake, where it is possible to practice water skiing. During each of the past six years the sea of Sperlonga has been given the award of the "European Blue Flag", a recognition enhanced by a second one, the title of "The Most Beautiful Suburb of Italy".

Travel information

By Car: Sperlonga is situated at 116 km from Rome and 114 Km from Naples.

From Rome take Pontina up to Terracina and then direction Sperlonga or take to Motor road, direction Terracina and then Sperlonga.
From Naples take the Tangenziale up to Mondragone, direction Formia, Gaeta, Sperlonga. By motor road (A1) exit Cassino direction Formia, Gaeta and then follow signal to Sperlonga.

By train: (Rome-Naples railway) get off at the station of Fondi - Sperlonga, from where a service of public transport will take you to Sperlonga (11 km).

About the property It has excellent conditions with large bedrooms, a good shower with hydromassage, high quality installations and a nice pool. Also it's only 5 minutes away from the beach. I would definitely get back to this hotel if i ever visit again this part of the italian coast - a small paradise that i surely recommend!!

About the property We stayed at the Virgilio Grand Hotel for 5 nights and really enjoyed it. The hotel offers great facilities: we got a lot of use out of the beautiful pool, in particular, which is always staffed and offers towels, beach chez-lounges and umbrellas. Everything in the hotel is very up-to-date, modern and clean. The one down side to our stay was that we were on the ground floor, right by the bar and reception area, which made it very noisy both late at night and early in the morning. When we asked to change, they were fully booked. However, we got used to the noise and were able to sleep well. I also think we got a great deal on TravelEurope.com--200 or 300 Euros cheaper than what we would have had to pay if we booked direct through the hotel.

About the property We had a wonderful, if short stay at the Grand Hotel Virgilio. The staff were excellent and the receptionist spoke very good English. The room was perhaps a little small but we had everything we needed, including a safe, fridge stocked with soft drinks and a jacquzzi shower, and it was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We all thoroughly enjoyed the use of a very nice pool with whirlpool area and the pool areas and lovely terraced gardens were very well kept. We had an excellent breakfast but did not have an evening meal at the hotel. Pool towels and drinks from the "room bar" were included in the price and we had the use of the hotel carpark or garage. The hotel is situated very close to the clean, sandy beach and the charming village of Sperlonga is just a short walk away - as are some truly delicious ice-cream parlours! We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely visit this hotel again. Compared with some other hotels I have stayed at recently, I feel the Hotel Grand Virgilio was good value for money and was enjoyed by adults and children alike ( our children are 9.12 and 14 years old). The only slight criticism I have is that in a room for four, the third and fourth persons had to share a double size sofa bed which was a little small for our 9 and 12 year old who also did not want to share! Two camp beds or two single sofa beds might have been better. We're already planning our next visit!
