Piazzale Michelangelo

On the south bank of the Arno River, just on top of the hill overlooking Florence, Piazza Michelangelo can offer you a great view of the city. Designed in 1869 by Poggi, it soon became a very popular tourist destination. On the surroundings you will find two beautiful gardens: Giardino dell'Iris, full of flowers in May and Giardino delle Rose, just below the piazza, in full bloom in May and June.
