Pitti Palace and Boboli Garden Pitti Palace was named after the merchant Luca Pitti, commissioned Filippo Brunelleschi to carry out the design of the building towards the end of the 15th century. Occupied by the Medici family around 1550, the building was expanded and turned into a priceless private museum hosting paintings, sculptures and other rate collectibles in the Silver Museum, the Costume Gallery, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Palatine Gallery and the Porcelain Museum. In the back, Pitti Palace gives access to the beautiful Boboli Garden with fountains, sculptures and sweeping views of the city of Florence.
