By Car
It is not easy to get to Venice by car. The only part of the town to be accessible by car is Piazzale Roma, linked to the mainland by a bridge called Ponte della Libertà. Several parkings and garages are available on the surroundings. You will reach the city centre either by water buses or by water taxes. Anyway, the easiest and cheapest way to get aroud is on foot.
By Plane
Several means of transport will take you from the Airport Marco Polo to the City Centre:
- Car taxis: The fastest way to get to Piazzale Roma from the Airport is by taxi (about 15 minutes). The ride costs approximately 30 euro. Once there you can easily move around on foot or by waterbus. (Radiotaxi Mestre tel.+39-041-936222)
- Private Water taxis: It is the fastest, but also the most expensive, mean to reach the historical centre (approximately 30 minutes)
- Buses ATVO run a regular direct service from the airport into the city centre (Piazzale Roma). It takes about 20 minutes and leaves every 30 minutes. The ride costs 3 euro including luggage transfer. The ATVO also offers a direct connection from the Airport into the Train Station of Mestre.The ride costs 2.50 euro, luggage transfer included.

The bus makes several stops before reaching Piazzale Roma; the ride takes approximately half an hour. The ticket costs 1 euro, luggage transfer not included. An additional ticket is needed to be allowed to carry your suitcases on the bus. Public Bus Line 15 connects the airport to Mestre Train Station. - Public ACTV watertaxi offers a private watertaxi service following the same run of public transports at more affordable fares compared with private taxis' tarifs. The service includes both the Alilaguna Red Line, stopping at Murano (30'), Lido (55'), Arsenale (1h.05'), S.Marco (1h.10'), the Zattere (1h.20'), and the Alilaguna Blue Line stopping also at Fondamenta Nuove (30') and S.Marco (58'). The Alilaguna connects the Airport to the Port of Venice as well. Both lines leave each hour. The service charge fares according to the distance covered, from a minimum of 5 euro to a maximum of 13 euro.

By Train
If you are travelling to Venice by train it will take you into Venice Santa Lucia, in the Santa Croce area, close to the Grand Canal. From there the City Centre is easily accessible either on foot or by water bus.
