Hotel Alessandra Florence

The Gennarini family has run Hotel Alessandra since 1970. The Hotel is situated in Borgo SS. Apostoli, one of the museum-streets of the city centre. The hotel is on the second floor of a palace built in 1507 by Baccio D'Agnolo (one of the leading florentine architects and a contemporary of Michelangelo). We also provide on request the following service: reservation for the main museum, curative or relaxing massages, beautician service, baby sitter and hair dresser.

The rooms are tastefully furnished to complement the buildings historic architecture and all offer direct-phone access, Modem access, central heating, air-conditioning, colour television ( with CNN channel), playstation and hair dryers. For rooms without bath, hallway bathrooms situated nearby allow for free use of the shower. All the rooms facing the street are now equipped with soundproof windows. Laundry service is available 5 days a week on demand at the desk.

Located in the heart of the most romantic part of Florence, the "cradle of the renaissance", next to the Uffizi Gallery and a few steps away from Ponte Vecchio, it is within easy walking distance of every point of artistic, cultural and economic interest. This part of the city centre is also one of the most popular areas for designer clothes' shopping with plenty of wares to tempt the purse. In the elegant Via Tornabuoni, 50 meters by the hotel, you can find the boutiques af all the most famous fashion designers like Prada, Gucci, Armani and Ferragamo.This particolar location make the use of a car superfluous in this unique city.

Travel information

Driving and parking in this medieval town with very narrow streets is mainly restricted to residents. You can, however, drive to the hotel by following the direction shown on the map.

Since you will arrive in Florence by the motorway, we recommend you take the exit called FIRENZE CERTOSA because it is the most direct and easy route to the hotel. When you REACH the exit of the motorway, follow the directions through FIRENZE CENTRO to a big square (Porta Romana), recognizable by the unusual modern statue in the middle and the old city wall to the side.

Enter the right arch straight ahead and follow Via Romana, (which will become) Via Maggio. cross Ponte Santa Trinita (a bridge over the Arno) and then turn right onto Lungarno Acciaiuoli and drive up to the Alitalia Office, located A few meters before the Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge). Turn left up the adjacent side-street and left again up the first street you reach , called Borgo S.S. Apostoli.

HOTEL ALESSANDRA, number 17, will be on your left. Parking can be found in either a garage or A specially designated lot away from the city center directions to these facilities may be obtained at the hotel office.

Please Note: Guests of the Hotel Alessandra, have the legal right to arrive at the hotel by car, in case the police stops you please inform them.

Attention: In order to better manage the urban traffic, 15 telematic doors have been activated in the City Limited Traffic Zones (ZTL). A computer system will create a database showing the car number plates allowed to drive in. Please apply the Hotel Concierge for further information.
