The Hotel "Il Palazzo", in the heart of Assisi, is located halfway between the Basilica of Saint Francis and Piazza del Comune.
It occupies the left wing of Palazzo Bartocci Fontana, built in the 1500s following the design of Giulio Danti. The palace, still owned and run by the descendants, preserves at the first floor the central salon with "telari" (mythical scenes) of Antonio Nessi.
The ceiling, as well as the contiguous rooms, has been distempered in the 1700s. The building rises on the foundations of medieval shops, inns and "fondachi" (storage cellars).
The hotel has 12 rooms with private bathroom, telephone and TV. Each room differs from the others in shape and all are fitted out with simple antique furniture.
- SECOND FLOOR ROOMS: Bright and wide rooms from which one enjoys the splendid view down the valley, surrounded by the green Umbrian hills.
- FIRST FLOOR ROOMS: Rooms at the first floor are characterized by original beams of oak and poplar which lend a warm atmosphere.
The vaulted ceiling decorated with "grottesche" and the epochal furniture are the ideal frame for a pleasant buffet-breakfast.

- From north: exit Valdichiana (direction Perugia-Assisi).
- From south: exit Orte (on E45 direction Perugia- Assisi).
If you drive through Autostrada Adriatica (A14):
- From north: exit Cesena (on E45 direction Perugia-Assisi).
- From south: exit Civitanova Marche (direction Foligno-Perugia-Assisi).
BY TRAIN:
- Ancona-Rome line, stop in Foligno (14 Km).
- Terontola-Foligno line, stop in Assisi (4 Km)
BY BUS:
- Daily interregional connections with Rome and Florence
- Daily connections with Perugia, Gubbio, Città di Castello, Orvieto and Todi.

Hotel Il Palazzo Everything was fine. The only problem was the refrigerator which was "out of order". Americans like cold drinks and ices..

Hotel Il Palazzo No water on the last morning of our stay...sooo no showers Ugh! The entire town was without water so not the hotels problem. No elevator but the staff was willing to carry luggage to the top floor for an older guest.

Hotel Il Palazzo Io e la mia famiglia siamo stati bene in questo hotel. Decisamnte un hotel rilassante dove trascorrere un fine settimana rilassante. Bello il panorama. Si mangia bene ed i servizi sono ottimi.

Hotel Il Palazzo Un hotel dal fascino antico, si respira una bella ed accogliente atmosfera. Buona la colazione, servita in una sala colazione molto carina. La mostra camera con balcone era frredata in modo semplice ed aveva una vista spettacolare. Altamente consigliato.

Hotel Il Palazzo serve un ascensore per il piano superiore il resto a prescindere la lontananza per il pargheggio della macchina tutto il resto bene.

Hotel Il Palazzo Gradevole nell'insieme. Belle le camere panoramiche. Peccato che i bagni sono un po' malandati e l'acqua è erogata a singhiozzo.
