Hotel L'antico Pozzo San Gimignano

The hotel l'Antico Pozzo is situated in the centre of San Gimignano in a superb 15th century town house. From the moment you enter your charming rooms till the moment you step into the "Sala Rosa" for breakfast, you will find yourself in another age, where everything has been done to preserve the charm of former times.

The building, now completely restored, preserves the original style of the 15th century, although the earliest part dates back to the middle ages and the founding of the town itself: traces remain of the well and the area around it. It was donated to a religious order who inahabited it until the end of the 17th century and was was scene of religious trials during the Inquisition. It acquired international renown as a "salon" for the high society of the late 18th century. Festive gatherings and parties were held in the ballroom which is now the present "Pink Room". It is also said that girls who refused to submit to the "Droit de seigneur" were suspended in the well. Everything has been preserved or reproduced faithfully in order to maintain the charm of this superb town house intact.

Travel information

By car from North on the Autostrada A1, exit at FIRENZE CERTOSA and then immediately enter Superstrada (blue sign SI-FI) to SIENA. After about 40km exit at POGGIBONSI-NORD and follow signs to San Gimignano, approx. 10km.

By car from South, exit the Autostrada A1 at VALDICHIANA and drive towards SIENA. Near Siena take Superstrada (blue sign SI-FI) towards FIRENZE. Exit at POGGIBONSI-NORD and follow directions to San Gimignano.

By train, get off at POGGIBONSI station, where you can catch a taxi or bus that leaves aprx. every hour. Closest bus stop to the hotel is the second one, "San Matteo".

It is possible to access hotel by car by following same directions for parking lot #3
but pass parking lot, traffic light then follow signs to hotel. Access is permitted for loading and unloading.

PARK&RIDE
A parking facility and shuttle service to park and get to the hotel is available. Once you get to San Gimignano you will find parking #1 "Giubileo". Check-in and park; then take the electric-shuttle which will take you to the hotel. Please get off bus stop # 9.
