clearin surrounded by Italy's largest beech wood.
Two families, the Bracciali

Travel information
From the North
Leave
the super highway at the Firenze-Certosa exit, and take the
Firenze-Siena highway towards Siena . Passing this famous city of the
Palio, the highway forks; keep to the left to continue on the road to
Grosseto.
After
approximately 50 Km/31 miles, you reach Paganico and leave the highway,
following the signs for “Vetta Monte Amiata, Castel del Piano”. At
Castel del Piano, follow the signs for “Vetta Monte Amiata, Prato delle
Macinaie”. After 9 Km/6 miles, you arrive at Le Macinaie lodge.
From the South
- Take the Autosole 1 (motorway) until Orvieto, from which you proceed
towards Castel San Giorgio, and then Acquapendente. At Acquapendente
take the Cassia north, towards Siena . At road marker 147 Km you find
the village of Ponte a Rigo and need to take the left turning to
Piancastagnaio. As you leave the town of Piancastagnaio , follow the
indications on the left for “Vetta Monte Amiata, Prato della Macinaie”.
- From Rome take the SS2 (“strada statale 2) or “Cassia” until road marker 147 Km , and then proceed as indicated above.
- Take the SS Aurelia until Montalto di Castro, then proceed to Canino
and then Acquapendente. At Acquapendente take the Cassia north and
proceed as indicated above.
From the East
From
Arezzo take the motorway A1 and exit at Valdichiana. Proceed towards
Pienza, then towards Abbadia San Salvatore. Before entering into the
town of Abbadia San Salvatore , follow the signs indicating Vetta Monte
Amiata. After approximately 7 Km/4 miles, turn right at the sign
indicating Prato le Macinaie.
