Hotel Mediterraneo faces the sea of the Big Harbour of Syracuse. The location of the hotel is quiet and very central, so it takes only few minutes by walk to reach the ancient isle of Ortigia: the historical and fashion Greek 'polis'.

The railway station is only 200 mt far from the hotel and even closer is the bus station. Not to mention the modern 'shopping area which is just within reach. The Hotel, opened just last summer, welcomes our guests with modernity, comfort and a delicious breakfast.

Our rooms are very comfortable and functional. They all have TV, air conditioning, safe, private bathroom with hairdryer and at least a little balcony. From some rooms you can admire a relaxing sea-view. Besides, one of the rooms is reserved for our disabled guest.

Hotel Mediterraneo The rates are far too high, considering rates of other hotels in Sicily and also the following shortcomings: The (primitive) lift goes only to the second floor; guests on the top (third) floor have to use the stairs. The parking mentioned on the internet site is a parking slot on a crowded street, if available. The surroundings are rather decrepit. On the positive side - the room was good and the staff friendly.

Hotel Mediterraneo This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. We had a lovely view from our room of the sea and Etna and we had a huge wonderful bathroom. But the room itself was drab--essentially undecorated and not pleasant to be in. Particularly objectionable was the parking--a steep hairpin driveway that was almost impossible to negotiate. The hotel really should not be advertised as having parking or it should be better described. The breakfast was not nearly as good as the breakfast in Palermo in terms of fruit or the quality of the bread though the terrace was gorgeous. The manager (owner) and his wife were terrfic. However, my guess is that this is a family business and whoever is in control will not go for deorating the bedrooms or upgrading the breakfast.
