Su Marmuri Ulassai

Hotel su Marmuri is a welcoming small hotel, with 18 well-furnished rooms. It’s the ideal base for sports lovers. The helpful and knowledgeable hotel staff help guests get the most out of their stay in the mountains but with the sea only 15 minutes away.

The hotel has 18 rooms: 3 triple, 7 double and 8 single. The rooms are all very comfortable and some have wonderful views of the town's impressive cliff faces and rolling hills which overlook the sea 20 kilometres away.

Ulassai is situated on a broad terrace overlooking the sea, and surrounded by the characteristic “Tacchi” which are limestone plateaus with steep sides (“tacco” means “heel” in Italian, the tacchi look like upturned heels). Only in this region of Sardinia do you find these tacchi. In several places you find springs which, in the rainier periods of the year, feed waterfalls such as those of “Lecorci” and “Lequarci”. At the base of the ”Tacchi” you find the Cavern ”Su Marmuri”, which is regarded as one of the most impressive caverns in Europe. The symbol of the village is an arch on a historical building, l’Arco di “Barigau”, which is all that remains of an ancient city wall. You should go and see the works of art of the artists Maria Lai and Constantino Nivola, which blend in perfectly among the old buildings of the town centre and the unspoilt natural beauty of the countryside. Ulassai is also famous for hand-woven fabrics.

From Olbia

Roads: SS 131 Olbia-Nuoro, SS 389 Nuoro-Arbatax

directions: the road from Olbia to Nuoro is a branch off  the SS131. Follow it for 55 km until you reach Nuoro’s industrial and commercial area. Follow the directions to Nuoro-Lanusei-Arbatax (you go through a tunnel about 1km long) and follow the fast road SS389.  Stay on this road towards Lanusei, not taking the left turning to Villagrande. Before you come into the town of Lanusei, turn right and follow the  signs to Gairo-Osini-Ulassai.

From Cagliari

Road: SS 125

directions: from the airport proceed towards stadio – Poetto – Villasimius, then take the SS125 towards Muravera and then follow signs for Olbia - Tortoli - Arbatax. After the junction towards Tertenia follow the road to Jerzu-Ulassai.

From Porto Torres and Alghero

Roads: SS 131; linkroad 131-Nuoro, SS 389 Nuoro-Arbatax

directions: take the SS 131 towards Cagliari. After about 90 km, at Abbasanta, you see signs for Nuoro. Head towards Nuoro, making sure at a flyover that you go over the main road before joining the far side of the dual carriageway leading to Nuoro. At Nuoro’s industrial and commercial area, follow the directions to Nuoro-Lanusei-Arbatax (you go through a tunnel about 1 km long) and follow the fast road SS 389.  Stay on this road towards Lanusei, not taking the left turning to Villagrande. Before you come into the town of Lanusei, turn right and follow the  signs to Gairo-Osini-Ulassai.
