Viole Country Hotel We enjoyed walking into Assisi (2 miles) on two days of our stay, but would have found this hard to do every day - we were glad to have hired a car. We did, as advertised, wake up to the sound of birdsong, but this was accompanied by some traffic noise, as our 'panorama' room was next to the road. The view of the surrounding countryside was beautiful, and included the local football pitch, where a couple of evening matches were played. The room and bed were comfortable, but we regretted the lack of drawer space. Staff were friendly and helpful, and coped admirably with two coach trips arriving during the week.

Viole Country Hotel We found this to be a very good hotel. Very clean, nice swimming pool, and good location for Assisi. Hotel is a short taxi ride from the train station, where you can catch regular trains to other towns in Umbria/Tuscany. There is a small pizza restuarant only 5 minutes walk away, which we found very good and very reasonably priced. If you want to stay near Assisi, this is a good hotel to choose. Highly recommended.
