A little over 850 meters of altitude, at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites and the massif of Paganella, rises Molveno, a renowned tourist resort in Trentino overlooking the lake. Molveno is has been a holiday destination for over a century (it has hosted the King of Belgium Albert I, the explorer Pietro Nobile and writers Alberto Moravia and Antonio Fogazzaro) and in winter it is point of departure for skiers: the 50 km of pistes in the Paganella are accessible by the ski-bus service which leaves from the town centre. Molveno hotels are frequented in both summer and winter: in fact, the lake offers the possibility of practicing windsurfing, canoeing and sailing, while the surrounding forests are crossed by beautiful hiking trails or more challenging trekking routes. Pensions in Molveno, often family-run, provide attentive service and Trentino's traditional high quality hospitality.
